snow + sunshine

As much as I enjoy watching it snow and seeing the little flakes floating down, there is something almost magical about waking up to a day where the sun is shining over a fresh blanket of snow.

20170124_102000 That is what I woke up to this morning.

The sun was shining a cold light on the thin layer of snow, so as soon as I could, I grabbed my camera, put on my brother’s chore boots, and went to see what I could capture.

A lot of little ice crystals and water droplets were frozen to the tips of leaves and pine needles, which was gorgeous to say the least.

As you can see, it wasn’t a whole lot of snow, but it was just enough to transform the world.

Inside, due to the snow, the lighting was dreamy, and somehow Little Kitty had settled down in just the right spot for me to capture the next photos.

 Isn’t she beautiful?

Pictures On a Page || Phone Roundup

Sorry to have been MIA for the last couple of weeks. First we went to visit relatives, then last week I was at a music camp, which was a blast, btw! (This week I’ve been recovering.)

Today I’m going to share some random photos from my phone, so enjoy!

A glimpse of my week at music camp.
Little Kitty
Wild clover (I think) that my brother picked.

Some experimental watercolor painting.

Pies, Flowers, and Doggy Noses…

…does it get much better than that?

Over about the past week or so I took random pictures, mini [unprofessional] photoshoots, and today you get to see what’s been happening in my life.

I’ve been thinking of doing a weekly roundup of pictures, so you may see me experimenting with that here in the next few weeks. We’ll see if I like like it, and if you like it, which is very important to me!

My first set of pictures is of Dahli. You all know who she is, right?

Now, how about a yummy s’mores pie I made? Unfortunately I’m not sharing the recipe, since it wasn’t all my own, but if you’d like to make your own, you need a graham cracker crust, a carob filling, (yes, I used carob!) and Suzanne’s Ricemellow Cream.

OK, so in our backyard we have kind of a wild flower garden. Originally I think someone planted them, but now these flowers come back every spring, even though no one takes care of them. Also, yes, these are that bright!

One final last picture. My brother cut, (or bit!) a hole in a pepper, the put a flashlight in it, and we ended up with this:

I know, it’s slightly odd.

My {Sleepy} Pets

Last night our animals were being very sweet and sleepy, so I couldn’t resist taking some pictures of them. Our cat, Little Kitty, likes to hang out in my mom’s desk, and she fell asleep resting on an open notebook.

Then, I had My dog, Dahli, conking out on my lap, which was absurdly adorable, since she was sprawled on her back, wrapped in a blanket.

I know the pic quality isn’t great, but isn’t she cute? And then her paw was sticking up in my faces so I had to get a picture of that too, of course. 🙂

Today I told myself I had to put up a new blog post, only, I didn’t have any ideas. :/

So, I went out into my yard and challenged myself to take pictures, even though I thought there was nothing interesting out there.

Well, here are some of the pictures I took. It pays to challenge yourself, wouldn’t you say?

Little Kitty

This is Little Kitty. Don’t ask how she got her name, and she’s not that little. 🙂

She hates the camera flash, so she has lots of pictures with her eyes closed.
I also call her “Princess,” because she seems so regal.
More closed eyes!
I think she got tired of posing and settled down for a catnap. She’s still pretty though.

We first met Little Kitty back in 2008 when she wandered up to our front door as a starving kitten. She put on the, “I’m such a sweet little thing,” act, then, once we adopted her, she turned into a tyrannical queen. Just kidding…sort of. She’s sweet, when she wants to be. 🙂 Just like a cat.

I love her though. As I like to say, sassy cats are the only true cats, so we have a true cat. 🙂

(Sorry to all the people who have sweet and cuddly cats. I like those types too, but a cat with a little bit of an attitude is fun.)

My dog, Dahli

Introducing… Dahlia! Otherwise known as Dahli, she is my family’s sweet and adorable Rat Terrier.

This was taken on approximately her fourth birthday (01-01-15). My brother made the party hat out of leftover Christmas paper.

Maybe it’s just me, but it looks like she is laughing at something in this one.

I hope you enjoyed these!
